The poultry industry in Georgia currently ranks first among all states in the dollar value of poultry products, first in the number of broilers grown, first in the value of all chicken sales, second in value of eggs produced and sixth in table egg production. Poultry easily accounts for Georgia's primary agricultural commodity representing 50% of the farm gate value and producing more than $4.0 billion in annual farm revenue. As a result, the poultry industry in Georgia annually contributes more than $14 billion in total economic impact to the state's economy. Unfortunately, poultry production is also considered the number one agricultural business at risk for agroterrorism in Georgia.
